Indian athlete Akshdeep Singh won the Gold Medal in the 20 km walk event at the Asian Race Walking Championships at Nomi (Japan). Akshdeep Singh clocked timing of 1:20:57 to achieve this feat.
Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer congratulated athlete Akshdeep Singh on this achievement. Congratulating Akshdeep Singh, his parents and his coaches, he attributed this achievement to hard work and guidance of coaches. He said that this was Akshdeep Singh’s first international competition and with this achievement, the enthusiasm for the big tournaments like Asian Games, World Championships and Olympic Games will be high. The Sports Minister wished Akshdeep Singh All the Best for a bright future.
Notably, Akshdeep Singh, a resident of Kahnake (Barnala), recently qualified for the Paris Olympic Games-2024 by setting a new national record in the 20 km walk at the National Open Walking Championship at Ranchi. On behalf of the Chief Minister, the Sports Minister had given Rs. 5 lakh to Akshdeep Singh for the preparation of the Olympics.
