Punjab government approves rs.25 crore for free book supply scheme benefitting scheduled caste students: Dr. Baljit Kaur

The Punjab government is making continuous efforts for the all-round development of Scheduled Caste students in the state. Under the financial year 2023-24, an amount of Rs 25 crore has been approved by the Punjab Government to achieve this objective.

Provided further information on this matter, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, Dr  Baljit Kaur said that, Rs 25 crore has been released under the scheme of supplying free books to students studying in the 1st to 10th classes belonging to Scheduled Castes. In addition, permission to spend this amount in one lump sum and exemption from the quarterly ban has also been granted.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the objective of the free textbook supply scheme is to ensure that students belonging to Scheduled Castes have access to educational resources without any financial burden. She also stated that Punjab government initiative will play a significant role in empowering the students.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur instructed the department officials to promptly implement schemes related to the welfare of SC students without any delay.
