RS.76 LAKH RELEASED TO ALL DISTRICTS FOR PREVENTION OF LUMPY SKIN DISEASE: LALJIT SINGH BHULLAR

RS.5 LAKH EACH FOR BORDER DISTRICTS-GURDASPUR, AMRITSAR, TARN TARAN, FAZILKA & FEROZEPUR AND RS.3 LAKH EACH TO REMAINING DISTRICTS

DEPUTY DIRECTORS ASKED TO VISIT TO THEIR AREAS CONCERNED

Chandigarh, August 3:

Following the instructions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Department, on Wednesday, has released Rs.76 lakh to all the districts to procure medicines for prevention of lumpy Skin disease among animals.

Following the reports of the spread of this disease in the border districts, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Rs.5 lakh each has been released to the Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Fazilka and Ferozepur districts and Rs.3 lakh each to the rest of the districts so that the district offices do not face any problem in purchasing required medicines. The Cabinet Minister asked the officials to continuesly sensitize farmers, livestock farmers and general public for the prevention of the disease.

“The state government has already issued advisory and necessary guidelines to prevent the disease and directed the officials to follow it strictly”, said the Animal Husbandry Minister instructing the District Deputy Directors to visit the areas under their jurisdiction. The situation should be monitored especially by visiting livestock farms. The officials should continue to aware the livestock farmers about the symptoms/prevention measures of the disease, he added.

S. Bhullar also urged the farmers that this infectious disease is more prevalent in cows and flies/mosquitoes are spreading it further. Therefore, affected animals should be separated from healthy animals and if possible, mosquito nets should be kept on the animals. He said that all the officers and employees of the Animal Husbandry department are on toe to help the livestock farmers in every way, thus they should not panic.
