The Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 Chandigarh is planning to increase the pay scale of the MBBS interns. This has been done after a major social media uproar by the MBBS interns, the UT administration has decided to give them relief and double up their stipend from Rs 9000 to Rs 18000.

The government has been issuing several notices in a bid to bring all hands on the deck considered the shortage of the doctors across the country, to fight against the coronavirus crisis. As the working hours of MBBS interns have also increased.
The stressed that while these interns are risking their lives and working day and night to provide assistance in the nation’s COVID-19 response. Their salary is less than rs 300 per day. Last time the salary of the GMCH interns has been increased 11 years ago and the hike has been a long-standing demand of the medicos.
