Arvind Kejriwal finally appears before Delhi court in ED summons case gets bail

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made an appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi on Saturday regarding the Enforcement Directorate summons case.

This marks Kejriwal’s first physical appearance before the court in connection with the case, as in previous hearings, he had attended via video conferencing. The court granted him bail in the case, which was filed by the agency due to his non-compliance with their summonses.

The Enforcement Directorate has lodged two complaints against Kejriwal for failing to attend the probe related to the Delhi excise policy case. They seek to gather his statement on various aspects including policy formulation, pre-finalization meetings, and allegations of corruption.

Kejriwal, however, has consistently refused to appear, citing the summonses as unlawful and politically motivated.

Advocate Ramesh Gupta stated, “The court directed him (Arvind Kejriwal) to furnish a bond and surety bond for the sum of ₹15,000. Both bonds were furnished and Kejriwal was allowed to go. After that, we moved an application for supply of copies under 207 and 91 CrPC for which reply and arguments.
