WICCI UT & G 100 Hosts SPOTLIGHT: A Conclave Celebrating Women’s Achievements

Chandigarh, 6th April 2024: The Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI UT) proudly announces the eagerly awaited event of the year, SPOTLIGHT: A Conclave Celebrating Women’s Achievements. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest ADGP Punjab Gurpreet Deo, DGP Punjab, Community Affairs & Woman Affairs said Director General of Police (DGP) highlighted a persistent issue plaguing many sectors: the underrepresentation of women in decision-making positions. Despite significant strides towards gender equality in recent years, women continue to be underrepresented at the upper echelons of organizations across various industries.

Pam Rajput, a prominent advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment, recently emphasized the critical importance of having women in positions of power to ensure that decisions are made in their favor.

Ms. Deepika Bahri, President of WICCI UT poignant statement urging us to look beyond urban areas and acknowledge the realities of rural India shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked challenges faced by women in rural communities. In a country as diverse as India, where rural areas comprise a significant portion of the population, understanding and addressing the unique needs and experiences of rural women is essential for achieving gender equality and inclusive decision-making.

She also said that  “SPOTLIGHT is not merely an event; it represents a movement towards acknowledging and honoring the remarkable contributions of women who are blazing trails in their respective fields. Attendees can anticipate an afternoon brimming with inspiration, empowerment, and invaluable networking opportunities.” She also mentioned that A National Business Chamber for Women, Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (WICCI) boosts and builds women’s entrepreneurship and businesses through greater engagement with government, institutions, global trade and networks.
