Essential Commodities to Pathankot Residents through WhatsApp

A WhatsApp system has been launched to facilitate online ordering in the Pathankot district. District residents can avail of this facility using the WhatsApp platform at 70091 83954. Through this system, citizens of the district can place orders for essential commodities for their day-to-day living needs.

Nodal Officer on Essentials Sanjeev Tewari, who is the Divisional Forest Officer Pathankot, informed that the system will make it easier for people to start door to door. This automated WhatsApp platform, while maintaining the need for social space, works very easily for both citizens and retailers. People can request home retailers for the delivery of the goods on a joint WhatsApp number for services to approved retailers.

The process of ordering through this system is very easy. People can send the desired product along with their address to WhatsApp by taking a photo or typing on paper. Citizens of the UPI are required to obtain these products. Pay by post or cash on delivery or shop. This facility is to be provided by retailers only to the citizens and retail traders will not be able to use this platform to place any orders to wholesalers.

The retailer will look at the list of items needed and confirm that he can supply these items. The retailer will bill the goods through details of the product through WhatsApp with the customer. The customer will read and agree to the price. If the seller cannot deliver the goods according to the list or the customer does not agree to the price, the list will be sent to another nearby seller. Through this system, the customer, the seller, will receive the UPI. Or pay through cash on delivery.

District residents can avail of this facility using the WhatsApp platform at 70091 83954.

Upon customer confirmation, the order will be packed by the retailer. The retailer may also state that he/she is accepting home delivery or that he/she wants the customer to take the goods from his / her shop and can also schedule delivery or pickup time. Items will only be considered delivered. When the user successfully accepts it.

Punjab has a curfew/lockdown till May 3 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. People are not allowed to leave their homes to prevent the spread of the virus. The Punjab government is making sure that the essential commodities are being transported to the people during these conditions. As per the guidelines of the state government, the district administration has resolved that the people can get the necessary products in a simple, safe and effective manner.
