50000 Litres of Illicit Liquor Seized In Punjab by Excise Department

As part of the policy of Punjab government to curb the illegal liquor trade, a team headed by Himanshu Jain SDM Kharar, and G S Dhanoa AIG Excise and police late last night caught a history-sheeter liquor smuggler and nabbed more than 50000 liters of illicit liquor.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said that a team, on specific information at around 1 AM, swung into action and chased the liquor smugglers who were escorting the tanker carrying illegal alcohol.

The owner of the premises who was moving in black Fortuner car, doing multiple rounds at the site was also nabbed.

The occupants of the Black Fortuner car threatened the team while chasing them but the members of the raiding party showed exemplary courage and caught red-handed two tankers and the vehicle escorting them.

The main accused, his associate, and 2 drivers were arrested and the apparatus used for stealing the alcohol along with vehicles were seized and handed over to Zirakpur police for registration of FIR and further investigations.

The culprit arrested was found to be an offender wanted by the police in various cases.
