NEW DELHI: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, recently underwent emergency brain surgery at Apollo Hospital in Delhi due to significant swelling and bleeding in his brain. According to statements from the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru was examined by Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospitals, who recommended an MRI. The MRI revealed extensive bleeding in his brain.
Reports indicate that Sadhguru had been experiencing severe headaches for the past four weeks but continued with his usual activities, including presiding over the Mahashivratri function on March 8, despite the intense pain. However, the pain worsened significantly on March 15, prompting him to seek medical attention.
Although initially hesitant due to a scheduled meeting, he eventually underwent the MRI, which confirmed the presence of extensive bleeding in his brain. The bleeding, occurring both about three weeks ago and more recently within the past few days, was located outside the brain and beneath the bone.
On March 17, Sadhguru’s neurological condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to a decline in his level of consciousness. A team of doctors, including Dr. Vinit Suri, Dr. Pranav Kumar, Dr. Sudheer Tyagi, and Dr. S Chatterjee, promptly performed surgery to alleviate the bleeding shortly after his admission to the hospital.
Following the procedure, Sadhguru was successfully removed from the ventilator. His recovery has been steady, with improvements observed in his brain function, overall health, and vital signs.
