Punjab Congress did not fulfill its promises Aman Arora writes letter to Sonia Gandhi

MLA Aman Arora writes the letter to Smt Sonia Gandhi

Due to the incompletion of promises by Punjab Congress, AAP member, Aman Arora an MLA of Sunam village, wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi.

Hon’ble Smt Sonia Gandhi Ji,

Jai Hind.

Through this communication, I wish to draw your kind attention towards an issue of urgent public importance related to future generations of Punjab.

Madam, as a concerned, committed and loyal Punjabi and a Member of Legislative Group of Principal Opposition Party Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, I feel it to be my duty to remind your good self that Punjab Pradesh Congress Party had in its 2017 Vidhan Sabha Manifesto promised that Congress upon forming the Govt. in State shall scrap or review anti-Punjab Power Purchase Agreements with 3 Private Thermal Power Plants which were entered into by the previous SAD-BJP which mandated to give away thousands of Crores of rupees from the State exchequer to these Power Plants even without buying even a single unit of power in the name of fixed charges.

We, at AAP has been raising this issue since the formation of the Congress Government at all platforms, but to no avail as Hon’ble, Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh ji instead of being acting as a custodian of interests of the people of the State, chose to guard the interests of the Private Companies and follow the dotted lines drawn by previous SAD-BJP dispensation, resulting in steep power hikes a numerous times and draining out resources from the State’s already dried coffers to the Private Power Companies.

Though Capt Amrinder Singh ji appears to be quite adamant in letting the Private Companies loot the State and not ordering for scrapping or reviewing the PPA’s, but stand of Aam Aadmi Party seems to validated by a few conscious Senior Congress leaders like Sh. Sunil Jakhar PPCC President, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa Cabinet Minister, S. Partap Singh Bajwa & S. Shamsher Singh Dulllo , both MP’s who have demanded scrapping of these PPA’s in the best interest to the State as these Thermal Power Plants are not only looting the States Revenues but also playing havoc with the health of the people due to non-compliance of Pollution norms.

So, I seek your indulgence into the matter to prevail upon/issue directions to the Hon’ble CM Punjab to listen to atleast his senior Party & Govt. Colleagues and crores of Punjabis ,if not us at AAP, to fulfill his Manifesto promise by scrapping these Power Agreements else the people of State will scrap agreement of Power given to Congress  in 2022.

Best wishes and Regards

Aman Arora

To,

Hon’ble Smt Sonia Gandhi ji,
