Urmila Matondkar quits Congress citing infighting

Urmila Matondkar had joined the Indian National Congress in March, ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Merely five months into the new role and the Bollywood actress turned politician has called it quits. In her statement to ANI, Urmila said,

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar resigns from the Congress party. She states ‘My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.’
