Aiming complete immunization coverage in the State, Special Secretary, Health Department and Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana, Sh. Prabhjot Singh directed the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of all districts

Week-long Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0 to be conducted in all the 22 districts of the State

Chandigarh, February 22 – Aiming complete immunization coverage in the State, Special Secretary, Health Department and Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana, Sh. Prabhjot Singh directed the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of all districts to ensure meticulous micro-planning for the week-long, Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0 to be conducted in all the 22 districts of the State.

He elaborated that the CMOs should take the onus and lead the drive so as to ensure effective and successful immunization. He gave these directions during the State Task Force Meeting for National Polio round & Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0. The Mission will be conducted in three phases in three months starting from March 7, 2022. Also, each round will be conducted for seven days, including Sundays, and public holidays. The doctors were advised to ensure immunization with no touch vaccine administration technique.

Among other suggestions, Sh. Singh advised them to involve key Departments like the Panchayati raj, Women & Child Development, Housing & Urban Affairs, Education, Labour and ESI, Youth Affairs & Sports etc so as to ensure inclusive and effective immunization.

Listing the priorities of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0, Sh. Singh said that it’s primary aim of is high coverage during Polio SIAs, with focus on HRAs, strengthening routine immunization coverage and maintain a highly sensitive AFP (Polio) Surveillance. He asked the concerned officials to focus on the children who have been left out in the previous immunization drives and on areas with high incidence of home deliveries as non-institutional delivery infants are not usually immunized. A comprehensive presentation in this regard was given by State Immunization Officer, NHM, Dr. Virender Ahlawat.

Sh. Singh asked the officials concerned to focus on vulnerable high risk areas/population, including slums, factories, brick kilns, poultry farms, stone-crushers, nomadic settlements, construction sites et al. Besides this, one NID will be held on February 27 and two SNIDs are likely to be conducted in the months of June and September this year. He specified that the COVID-related protocols should be adhered to during the immunization drives.

The target beneficiaries for this Mission include, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children less than 2 years (0 to 23 Months), unvaccinated or partially vaccinated pregnant women, Special focus on administration of vaccines like, DPT 5 and Td 10 and 16, pregnant women target includes all those who are currently pregnant on the day of headcount survey and due for vaccination either with primary or booster dose for Td. The target children include all those born in or after February 2020 and due for one or more vaccines.

During the presentation various instructions regarding the management of booths were given, especially considering the ongoing COVID situation.
