Certificate for genome sequencing lab received; lab to be operational in Rohtak – Health Minister

Those vaccinated will now be able to get the passport number added in the vaccination certificate – Vij

Vaccination for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years will start from January 3, 2022 in the state- Vij

Chandigarh, December 30- Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the Genome Sequencing Lab set up in Rohtak’s Maharishi Dayanand University has got the certificate to operate and this lab will soon carry out the work of sequencing the genome of the virus. Apart from this, Sh. Vij said that now the those who need to add their passport number in the COVID-19 vaccination, will have to mention their passport number before vaccination at the vaccination site, after which the passport number will also appear in the vaccination certificate. Similarly, vaccination of Covaxin for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years will start from January 3, 2022 and health care workers, frontline workers as well as precaution doses for people above 60 years of age with co-morbidities will start from January 10, 2022.

Covid vaccination programme will start for children from January 3, 2022, registration from January 1, 2022

He said that Covid vaccination programme will be started from January 3, 2022 for children in the age group of 15 years to 18 years in the state and the registration for this through the Cowin website or app will start from January 1, 2022. On the other hand the precaution dosage will be started from January 10, 2022 which will be given to health care workers, frontline workers as well as persons above 60 years of age with comorbidities. Sh. Vij clarified that children between the age group of 15 to 18 years would be vaccinated only with Covaxin as the Central Government has approved the same. Apart from this, he said that there will be separate sites and sessions for vaccination for children and if there is a parallel site with adults then their line will be made separately and their staff will also be separate. Sh. Vij said that those sessions should be given wide publicity in which vaccination will be available for the age group of 15 to 18 years. He directed the officers that the distribution of Covaxin to the identified session sites should be planned well in advance. Vaccines should be made available in sufficient quantity to cover these beneficiaries.

Sh. Vij said that the decision to vaccinate 15 to 18 year old children in the country will not only strengthen the country’s fight against Covid, but children will also be able to attend school and college.

A total of 15.40 lakh children will be covered in immunization in Haryana

In the meeting, Sh. Vij was informed that a total of 15.40 lakh children will be vaccinated in Haryana as per RGI estimates. These children will be given a dose of Covaxin and for this registration and appointment will be made through Covin. It was informed in the meeting that self-registration can be done through existing account on Cowin or by creating a new account through a unique mobile number. In addition, appointments can be booked online or onsite (walk-in).

Precaution dosage for healthcare workers, frontline workers and above 60 years of age to start from January 10, 2022

The meeting was informed that for healthcare workers, frontline workers and co-morbidities above 60 years of age, the precaution dose will start from January 10, 2022, which will be available to the beneficiaries after completion of 9 months i.e. 39 weeks from the date of second dose. It was informed in the meeting that the total number of healthcare workers and frontline workers in the state is about 5 lakh out of which healthcare workers are around 2.50 lakh and frontline workers are around 2.50 lakh and the number of people with co-morbidities above 60 years of age is about 5.78 lakh. It was informed during the meeting that for healthcare workers, frontline workers and co-morbidities above 60 years of age, registration and appointment of preconception doses would be done through Cowin. Similarly, online and onsite mode will also be possible through their existing COVIN account and the COWIN system will send SMS to avail the benefits when precaution dose is to be given. The precaution dosage will appear in the vaccination certificate.

Orientation given to officers and employees for dose

It was informed in the meeting that District Immunization Officers, Urban Nodal Officers and Data Managers have been given orientation regarding vaccination of 15 to 18 year olds and precaution dosage as per the guidelines of Government of India. The availability for vaccination will be made available on  Cowin and the districts will be notified accordingly and vaccinations will be allocated district wise for target population and projected number of children proportionately.

The current total daily testing capacity of the state is around 1,35,650

It was informed in the meeting that as on date there are 24 government molecular labs in the state for testing of Covid-19. Of these, 15 are functioning as District Molecular Labs and 6 as Medical College Labs. Rest three are working at THSTI, Faridabad, IMTECH, Chandigarh (Govt. of India) and Command Hospital, Chandimandir. The daily testing capacity of these laboratories is around 31,000. Three more District Molecular Laboratories are also likely to be set up soon. Similarly, it was informed during the meeting that as on date there are 23 private empaneled molecular laboratories with a daily testing capacity of 1,04,650. The current total daily testing capacity of the state is around 1,35,650.

Similarly, the next generation Genome Sequencing Lab has been set up at MDU, Rohtak by Path (NGO) in the healthcare sector funded by Rockefeller Foundation, USA, for research in genomics. It was informed in the meeting that the number of Oxygen Plants are 84 (40 PM Care and 44 CSR), Oxygen Concentrators 7219, BI-PAP 751, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) 166, Oxygen Cylinder (D-Type) 4950, Oxygen Cylinder ( B-Type) is 9067.

Strict adherence to Covid protocol

In view of the increasing cases of new variant of Covid in the state, during the meeting, the Health Minister directed the officers to strictly follow the prescribed protocol related to Covid so that the spread of infection can be curbed.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Sh. Rajeev Arora, Mission Director, NHM, Sh. Prabhjot Singh, Director General, Health Services Department, Ms. Veena Singh and other officers were present in the meeting.
