Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. J.P Dalal said that a target has been set to transform one lakh acres of barren land of farmers into cultivable land during this year.
- Chandigarh, June 14 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. J.P Dalal said that a target has been set to transform one lakh acres of barren land of farmers into cultivable land during this year.
- Sh. Dalal was presiding over a meeting with senior officers of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department here today. He said that the Government will assist the farmers to identify the barren land for which the action plan is being prepared.
- While directing the officers of the Department, the Agriculture Minister said that Moong seeds should be made available at the earliest to the farmers at the block and village level in the state, especially to the farmers of South Haryana, so that farmers can plough their crops in time. He said that good quality seeds of Millet, Moong and Urad should be made available at low prices to the farmers, following which a long term plan should be prepared in collaboration with Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, so that farmers can get seeds at low prices instead of purchasing it from the market at high prices.
- He directed the officials to create awareness among the farmers to replace paddy and grow less water consuming crops which bear low expenditure and high profit. In addition, more and more farmers should be encouraged to to register themselves under ‘Mera Pani Meri Virasat’ scheme portal by June 25, 2021. Under this scheme Rs 7,000 per acre will be provided to the farmers, he added.
- Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, Director General, Agriculture, Sh. Hardeep Singh and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
