Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the water flowing by way of springs in the Aravalli and Shivalik Hills in the State is being conserved by constructing a dam.

With public participation, the government is focussing on rainwater harvesting

Chandigarh, February 13 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the water flowing by way of springs in the Aravalli and Shivalik Hills in the State is being conserved by constructing a dam. He elaborated that this is being done so as to utilize this rain water for drinking water and irrigation purposes post rainy season throughout the year.

The State Government is working in a planned manner to build such dams with public participation.

The Chief Minister said this at a programme organised on the occasion of Bhoomi Pujan of Jal Suraksha Sunishchitikaran Bandh Pariyojana in village Pathkhori of Firozpur Jhirka subdivision of Nuh district, which has been selected under the Aspirational District Transformation Programme on Sunday. He appreciated the efforts of Tarun Bharat Sangh for taking concrete steps towards water conservation by building a dam and also announced Rs 50 lakh for this project from his voluntary fund. He said that rain water should be stored for the conservation of ponds, stepwells and lakes.

Public participation necessary for Water Resources Dam Project

The Chief Minister said that public participation is necessary in completing projects like Water Resources Dam in village Pathkhori. This is such a work which requires collaborative effort and everyone will benefit from it.

Nuh district connected with Mewat Canal

The Chief Minister said that the water-level in this area is very low and has become saline as well. Thus, Ranney Well Scheme of Rs. 263 crore has been started here to overcome the water shortage in this area. The Government has been working to provide sufficient water to Southern Haryana. In this episode, Mewat Canal is being constructed with a capacity of 200 cusecs, wherein water will be taken from Yamuna River along with KMP Expressway.

Drinking water and irrigation needs of 9 villages of Nuh district will be met

The Chief Minister said that with this project, the drinking water and irrigation needs of 9 villages of the district would be met. With the construction of this dam, 224 hectare meter of water will be stored, which will become a big reservoir and its direct benefit will be given to the common man.

Focus on children’s education

The Chief Minister said that work is being done in the direction of imparting quality education to the children of this area so as to enhance the quality of education. If this area develops in education sector, then undoubtedly it will grow at a fast pace.

Work to be done to keep environment clean

The Chief Minister said that a Department related to environment would be started in one of the universities of Haryana, so that work on natural resources like air, water, land and forests can be done effectively.

Water conservation is necessary in agriculture sector

The Chief Minister said that the government is promoting water conservation in the agriculture sector to conserve and make optimum use of every drop of water. Under the Mera Pani-Meri Virasat Scheme, Rs 7,000 per acre is being given to the farmers for sowing alternate crops in place of paddy.

On this occasion MLA from Sohna, Kanwar Sanjay Singh, former MLA, Naseem Ahmed, District President, Narendra Patel, Tarun Bharat Sangh President Rajendra Singh were present.
