Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to settle the pending cases pertaining to telecom towers and OFC cable permissions within 15 days.

Chandigarh, February 2– Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to settle the pending cases pertaining to telecom towers and OFC cable permissions within 15 days.

The Chief Secretary was holding a review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners through video conference here today with regard to the issue of Telecom Tower and OFC Cable Permission.  In the meeting, the Chief Secretary had detailed discussion on action being taken regarding these two issues and gave necessary guidelines.

The Chief Secretary said that all those service providers who have not given the necessary documents should also be instructed to do so within 7 days so that the pending cases are processed at the earliest.

Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal further said that the applications being submitted at the portal of Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre for telecom tower should be settled as per the rules within the stipulated time period.

It was informed in the meeting that 2346 cases are pending in the districts related to telecom tower and OFC cable permissions.  There are some cases where the service providers have not submitted the required documents or in some cases the prescribed charges have not been paid. Taking cognizance of this, the Chief Secretary has directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that such documents are submitted.

It was informed in the meeting that under the Communication and Connectivity Infrastructure Policy, 2017, Re. 1 per metre has been fixed for underground communication cable and Rs. 10,000 has been fixed as one time administrative fees for setting up of overhead communication and connectivity infrastructure.  Apart from this, a fee of Rs 15,000 for annual maintenance.  All service providers have to pay these charges to the local bodies.

Dr. Mahesh Shukla, Senior Deputy Director General (Haryana),  Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, said that they will establish contact with the service providers and will ensure submission of the required documents within the stipulated time as well as ensure payment of fixed charges.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. P.K.  Das, Principal Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department, Sh. Anil Malik, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta and other officers were present.
