Haryana government has stopped the purchase of wheat in 18 Mandis of the state for 24 hours due to excess arrival of wheat in these Mandis.

  • Chandigarh, April 12: Haryana government has stopped the purchase of wheat in 18 Mandis of the state for 24 hours due to excess arrival of wheat in these Mandis. This decision has been taken so as to ensure that farmers do not face any trouble.
  • The State Government has urged the farmers to bring their crops to their respective procurement centres only after receiving the SMS for bringing their crops in the Mandis.  Besides, this, farmers after registering themselves on Mera Fasal Mera  Byora Portal can also change their schedule of bringing their crops as per their convenience.
  • A decision in this regard was taken in a review meeting regarding ongoing Rabi procurement season 2021-22 held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal at his residence here today.
  • During the meeting Chief Minister was apprised that in 18 Mandis of the State, due to excess arrival of wheat and less lifting of the crop, pilling of the crop have been reported. Therefore a decision has been taken to stop the procurement and not to issue gate pass in 18 Mandis namely, Radaur in Yamunanagar district, Thanesar, Pehowa,  Ladwa, Babain  and  Ismailabad in Kurukshetra district, Taraori, Nilokheri, Indri, Assandh and Nissing in Karnal district, Ambala City and Saha in Ambala district, Kaithal, Kalayat and Cheeka in Kaithal district, Gohana in Sonipat district and Samalkha in Panipat district for the next 24 hours.
  • Besides this, orders have been given to open additional procurement centres for these Mandis after taking consent from the concerned Deputy Commissioners. During the meeting it was shared that these additional procurement centres would be set up wherever all the procurement arrangements have been made.
  • In the meeting it was decided that in the Mandis where the lifting is not done properly, the transport Incharge deputed by the Deputy Commissioners can amend the FIFO system as per their requirements and the procurement, agencies can choose Arhtiyas as per their wish for the lifting of the crop. The transport manager will closely monitor the entire process.
  • It was also decided in the meeting that If the transport contractor fails to make the transportation arrangements as per the terms and conditions of the contract, then the Deputy Commissioner of Police can add new transporters and their vehicles on the portal.
  • During the meeting it was informed that at present, 2.8 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been lifted and 24 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the Mandis. The district level committee has been asked to ensure lifting of the crop immediately by any means. If the labour and transport contractor expresses an inability to lift the crop on time due to any reason, then the district level committee is authorized to get the work done by another contractor at a higher rate and for this permission should be sought from the headquarters later.
  • The farmers of the other states are barred from entering Mandi till further orders. For this, the Director General of Police has been directed to set up checkpoints at state borders.
