CM presides over meeting to review Covid-19 situation in district Sirmaur

Bed capacity in Govt. Hospital Nahan would be increased to 110 beds

While presiding over a review meeting regarding Covid-19 situation at Nahan in Sirmaur district, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that to cope up with the pandemic, the Principal of Dr. Y.S. Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan has been authorised to temporarily hire 50 nurses, four data entry operators, 20 class-IV employees, three lab technicians and 10 operation theatre assistants for Covid duty on outsource basis through authorised service provider agency till 30 June, 2021.

Chief Minister said that the Government would also ensure smooth supply of essential logistics such as PPE kits, face masks, sanitizers and oxygen, so that people do not face any inconvenience. He said that the bed capacity in Government Hospital Nahan would be increased to 110 beds. He said that Ayurveda Hospital building would also be utilized as dedicated Covid Care Centre and bed capacity would be enhanced by 25 beds.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the Government would also take over a few private hospitals in the district to provide better Covid treatment to the people. He also directed district administration to increase the bed capacity by exploring possibilities to take over halls of Government Degree College, Nahan and Zila Parishad Bhawan at Nahan. He said that this would enhance the bed capacity by 200 beds.

Chief Minister urged the elected representatives of PRIs and ULBs besides various NGOs and social organizations to come forward to help the people and Government to check further spread of the pandemic. He asked the PRIs to effectively keep an eye on those coming from other parts of the country in their respective areas so that they could be either tested for Covid or kept under home isolation.

Jai Ram Thakur said that doctors and other para medical staff must ensure polite behaviour and sympathetic attitude with the covid-19 patients as this would go a long way in their speedy recovery. He said that being border district the people should also keep strict vigil on people visiting from neighbouring States so that spread of the virus could be avoided. He said that work on construction of medical college building would be expedited and adequate arrangement of doctors and other para medical staff would be ensured.

Chief Minister directed the district administration to ensure strict compliance of SoPs and guidelines laid down by the State Government from time to time to tackle this pandemic.

MPP and Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary stressed the need for segregation of panchayats into hypersensitive, sensitive and normal panchayats based on the number of cases. He also urged the elected representatives for ensuring their active participation in motivating the people for strictly following Covid appropriate behaviour, go for vaccination and follow SoPs for home isolation.

Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Dr. R.K. Purthi while welcoming the Chief Minister said that as many as 114830 persons have been tested for Covid-19 in the district and till date 7000 have been tested positive. He said that there were 1635 active cases in the district and recovery rate was 75.74 percent. He said that effective IEC campaign has been launched in the district to motivate the people to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour. He said that all the isolated positive patients were being mapped by the local medical officers and health workers. He said that medicines as per clinical management protocol was being handed over to home isolated persons through Asha workers. He said that till date as many as 89917 doses of vaccine have been administered in the district.

Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap, MLA Nahan Dr. Rajiv Bindal, MLA Pachhad Reena Kashyap, Vice Chairman, State Civil Supplies Corporation Baldev Tomar, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi and other officers attended the meeting.
