The students of IGNOU have to submit the assignment online

The Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) has taken a decision in the view of the lockdown which has been imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19. The decision has been taken that the students need to submit their assignments online. 

“In view of the complete lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has decided to facilitate assignment submission by learners through email. Learners can submit scanned copies of handwritten assignments through email to the respective RC email,” said Rajesh Sharma, CPRO, IGNOU.

“The Regional Centres will accept scanned copies of handwritten assignments through a dedicated email id and take care of the further process of evaluation,” he also said.

The Regional Director of the Noida Regional Centre of IGNOU has shared this information on social media. The last date for the submission of IGNOU June assignments is April 20 for the candidates who are appearing for the June term-end examination.

An email address has been developed for the students where they can submit the handwritten assignments. “The date for submission of assignment at the Learner Support Centre (LSC) has been extended to 30th April 2020. However, as an interim arrangement during the lockdown period due to COVID-19, learners of Regional Centre, Noida who shall be appearing in TEE June 2020 may submit their scanned hand-written assignments to RC Noida mail ID rcnoidaassignments@ignou.ac.in till lockdown is lifted,” the Noida Regional Centre of IGNOU has said.

How To Submit IGNOU Assignments Online?

The students can follow the steps to submit their assignment online-

  • Write the assignment, as per the guidelines given in the assignment list provided online on the IGNOU website
  • Assignment should be handwritten and not be typed on computer.
  • Scan the handwritten assignment using mobile phones
  • Submit the assignment on the email address provided by IGNOU

Assignments carry 30% weightage out of the total marks.

“A learner has to write assignment responses compulsorily before taking Term-End Examinations from time to time to complete an academic program,” said IGNOU. The candidates will be able to fill and submit the forms for June term-end examination only after the submission of assignments. The last date of the submission of the exam forms is April 30. 

According to a notification by IGNOU, “Keeping in view the spread of coronavirus, the epidemic and complete lockdown throughout the country, with the approval of the competent authority the last date of accepting the June, 2020 Term-end examination forms without any late fee has been extended up to 30th April, 2020.”
