ICSI introduced new Entrance Exam CSEET 2020

ICSI has introduced a new entrance exam, as per the recent official notification. Now the new exam will be the CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) which is going to be held in May 2020. CS Foundation is now discontinued from the CS Curriculum. In regard to that, some subsequent tests will be held in the month of July 2020, November 2020, and January 2021. The aspirants of all the categories have to qualify in the CSEET CS Executive Entrance Test, which is a mandatory qualifying test, in order to register for CS Executive Programme.

According to the ICSI notification, the following categories of the students can take the exemption from CSEET:

  • CS Foundation Programme passed students with no exemption fee
  • ICAI CA Final passed students with the payment of Rs 5000 as exemption fee
  • ICMAI CMA Final passed students with the payment of Rs 5000 as exemption fee

ICSI in a notification available on its website said, “The Foundation Programme of CS Course stands discontinued.”

CSEET Exam Pattern And Syllabus

The CS Executive Entrance Test, CSEET is a computer-based examination and  comprises of 4 papers namely:

  • Paper 1 (Business Communication),
  • Paper 2 (Legal Aptitude & Logical Reasoning),
  • Paper 3 (Economic and Business Environment) and
  • Paper 4 (Current Affairs, Presentation & Communication Skills)

CSEET online computer-based will be comprised of

  • MCQs,
  • video clips,
  • audio clips, and
  • descriptive questions

10+2 pass candidates are eligible to appear for the CSEET examination. Candidates who have qualified ICMAI final course and ICAI will be exempted from qualifying CSEET.

Minimum Qualifying Marks for CSEET

The aspirants must have to secure 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in total to be declared as qualified and to register for CS Executive Programme. There will be no negative marking.

The duration of CSEET shall be 135 minutes which is divided into two sections: 120 Minutes for MCQ test and 15 minutes for Viva Voice.

ICSI Other Updates

According to the notification, the provisional registration to the Executive Programme has now been discontinued. Now, a new clause has been introduced by ICSI ‘Continuation of Registration’ which says that the students are required to keep their registration renewed from time to time even after he/she has passed the CS Professional Programme till completion of all the training requirements. The prescribed fee for the Continuation of Registration is Rs 1000 per year.

The provision of “Extension of Registration” is also being discontinued by ICSI. On the expiry of the validity of the registration, candidates of the Professional and Executive Programme are required to seek renewal through the “Registration Denovo” process.
