  • Chandigarh, February 12- Haryana, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Kamlesh Dhanda said that the Anganwadi Workers will be honoured with Anganwadi Workers State Award-2020 on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, for their extraordinary performance for the welfare of Women and Children.
  • On this occasion, Commissioner and Secretary, Haryana Women and Child Development Department, Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Director General, Women and Child Development, Mrs. Renu S. Phulia, Vice Chairperson of State Women’s Commission, Ms. Preeti Bhardwaj Dalal, Chairperson, Social Welfare Board, Ms. Rosy Malik Anand and other senior officers were also present.
  • The interview committee interviewed 25 Anganwadi workers, who scored the highest in written examination held across all the districts of the state. Apart from the Minister, the other members of the Committee included, Additional Commissioners and Secretaries and other officers. The Minister of the State said that the Committee will select two Aanganwadi Workers for National Award on the basis of marks scored in the written examination and interview in a transparent manner.
  • The recommendation of the selected Worker will be sent to the Government of India for the National Award and five other Anganwadi Workers have been selected for the State Level Award.
  • Earlier, the Minister took a stock of the progress of various Central and State Government Schemes being run by the Department and directed to expedite the works. She said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, the State Government is committed to empower women and girls to ensure gender equality. She reviewed Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana, Integrated Child Development Scheme, Supplementary Nutrition Programme, Aapki Beti, Hamari Beti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhana Yojna, Onestop Centre for Women etc.
