  • Chandigarh, February 12: Haryana State Higher Education Council,  Chairman, Professor Brij Kishore Kuthiala, while addressing a seminar organized at Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa said that there is a need to work on the teaching and learning techniques  and the New Education Policy is providing this opportunity.
  • The New Education Policy aims to realize the concept of self-sufficiency and that is why, for the first time, strategies regarding self-sufficiency have been mentioned in India’s New Education Policy. Professors play a pivotal role in making students self-reliant and changing their mindset for making them self-reliant.
  • Professor Kuthiala, while speaking on ‘Role of Teacher in making students self-sufficient, said that Higher Education Council is continuously making efforts to realize this concept.  In this endeavour, so far 17 meetings have been held with the Students, Professors and Officers of Haryana.  He said that the students who have taken admission in the college after completing XII will have to be contacted thrice by the professors.
  • In the first meeting, the professors will have to inform the students about the subject, in the second meeting they should be made aware about the advantages of becoming self-sufficient and in the third meeting they have to hold interaction with successful entrepreneurs so as to ensure the development of the nation by giving right direction to the youth power.  He urged the University Professors that to ensure this along with academic knowledge, art of living should also be taught to the students.
  • Presiding over the programme, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor, Ajmer Singh Malik said that the University is making every possible effort so as to make the students self-reliant. He said that the University students are very talented and   efforts are being made to provide best environment to the students. He said that during the last month,   Chaudhary Devi Lal University Sirsa has been organizing various workshops so as to prepare syllabus for the students as per the demand of the industry right from the graduation level.
