Chandigarh, October 21: The Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Infosys Foundation Vishram Sadan at National Cancer Institute, Badsa area campus of Jhajjar district, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi through video conferencing.
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal welcomed the Prime Minister in a programme organized virtually in the National Cancer Institute campus, Jhajjar.
Addressing the programme through video conferencing, Prime Minister said that it is a historic day that today India has crossed the 100 crore vaccine dose mark. He said that to combat the biggest Pandemic in 100 years, the country now has a strong protective shield of 100 crore vaccine doses.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this achievement belongs to the entire nation and to every citizen of India. He also thanked all the vaccine manufacturing companies of the country, the workers who took the vaccine from one place to another, the health sector professionals involved in the vaccine administration drive.
Sh. Narendra Modi said that today the patients coming to the National Cancer Institute, Badsa Jhajjar for cancer treatment have got a big relief and convenience. He said that this Vishram Sadan, built in the National Cancer Institute, will reduce the tension levels of patients and their relatives.
The Prime Minister appreciated the Infosys Foundation for building the Vishram Sadan and AIIMS Jhajjar for providing land, electricity and water for it. He expressed his gratitude to the team of AIIMS Management and Foundation Chairperson, Sudha Murthy for this service work.
The Prime Minister said that India’s corporate sector, private sector and social organizations have continuously contributed in strengthening the health services of the country. He said that Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a great example of this.
The Prime Minister said that when a patient gets free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he gets a valuable social service. He said that it is the spirit of service, due to which our government has taken steps to reduce the prices of about 400 life-saving cancer medicines.
Haryana is fulfilling its responsibility in the health services sector: Chief Minister
Speaking on this occasion, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the National Cancer Institute located in the Jhajjar district is dedicated to the entire state and the country. He said that Haryana Government is continuously expanding the health services by working in the spirit of Antyodaya. In order to ensure social participation with the government, a CSR trust has been formed in the state, through which many public interest works are being done by the government. Steps are being taken by increasing health facilities in PGI Rohtak including National Cancer Institute in the state, he added. Medical colleges are being opened in every district by the government and this is the reason that there were 700 medical seats in the state in 2014, whereas now it has increased to more than 1800 seats, asserted Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that the Haryana Government was fulfilling its responsibility by continuously increasing the health services. He thanked the countrymen for the steps taken towards health security after the completion of more than 100 crore vaccination in the country and told that Haryana has also participated in preparing a strong protection circle by taking 2.5 crore vaccine doses. He said that Haryana is at number one while developing 40 PSA oxygen plants during this Pandemic.
Expressing thanks to Infosys Foundation, Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who virtually attended the programme, said that the cooperation given by the institute under CSR in the spirit of philanthropy is dedicated to public service.
He said that today will be remembered as the golden day in the history of health services as today where 100 crore vaccine doses have been already administered to the countrymen. At the same time, the Infosys Foundation Rest House in the National Cancer Institute, Badsa Jhajjar campus will prove to be a boon for the families of the patients in every aspect.
Infosys Foundation Chairperson, Smt. Sudha Murthy said that under CSR, her foundation will provide support in every possible way.
The Chief Minister along with Union Minister of State for Health, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Health and Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, MP, Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, BJP State President Sh. Om Prakash Dhankar and Director AIIMS, Prof. Randeep Guleria inspected the Vishram Sadan constructed in the premises of National Cancer Institute campus and also inquired about the health services provided. He also inquired about the well-being of patients admitted in the institute.
On this occasion, Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Sh. Amit Arya, Divisional Commissioner, Rohtak, Sh. Pankaj Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Shyam Lal Poonia and SP, Sh. Rajesh Duggal and other dignitaries remained present.
